About
Us
The
Learning Disabilities Association of Sumner County is a non-profit
volunteer organization committed to provide services to individuals and
families in Sumner County, Tennessee.
We operate as an affiliate
chapter of the Learning Disabilities of Tennessee as well as the
Learning Disabilities of America. Membership in the Sumner County
association also provides
membership in the state and
national associations. LDA of Sumner County's first meeting was
in January of 2009 and has held several meetings and workshops (see
Past Events section).
LDA of Sumner County is
dedicated to the promotion of self-advocacy for individuals with
learning disabilities;
the removal of the social
stigma that encompasses individuals with learning disabilities; and the
promotion of effective strategies and
life-skills training for
individuals with learning disabilities.
It is our desire to provide
community support to all individuals affected by learning disabilities
through advocacy, training, and through
the advancement of social
acceptance among the learning disabled and non-learning disabled
communities.
