About Learning Disabilities

Your chances of knowing someone with learning disabilities are very good.  It is estimated that one in seven Americans has some type of learning disability (information from ldaamerica.org).  A learning disability can’t be cured or fixed -it is a lifelong issue. It interferes with a person’s ability to read, write, or process information on a daily basis and often affects memory and social skills. As families maneuver through the maze of learning difficulties they may feel guilt, regret, fear and even embarrassment.  These frustrations are real.

The Learning Disabilities Association of Sumner County is committed to encouraging and supporting those affected by learning disabilities.   By bringing informative speakers, group support and workshops to our community, LDA of Sumner County reminds families that you are not alone in this journey.  It is our belief that with the right support and intervention individuals with learning disabilities can succeed in life.
